Synopsis of the last Faith Formation Committee meeting: May 1, 2012
With the upcoming (July 1, 2012) changes in Mass times coming quickly, we discussed possible options for the Sunday School program. The Sunday School program has for many years has started 30 minutes before mass and ended at the Preparation of the Gifts, where the kids processed into Mass and joined their family for the Liturgy of the Eucharist and the Dismissal Rite. Because the currently Sunday School program was attached to the 10:30 am Sunday Mass, a change will need to be made with the new start time of Sunday Mass being 9:00 am (starting July 1, 2012.) The committee members, along with several Sunday School parents who joined us for the meeting, talked about all the different options for Sunday School. Two clear options surfaced as the most viable options. Option one is to have the same format we have had in the past and attach it to the 9:00 am Sunday Mass. Option two is to hold Sunday School for 45 minutes after the end of Mass. It was decided to poll the parents and ask them for their opinion. Surveys were sent out May10th and are due on May 31.
